How to measure raw garlic
Peel and prepare the garlic as the recipe directs before measuring. A fine mince fills the gaps in a spoon more closely than a coarse chop. When the recipe gives a weight, use a scale to match it.
Which portions apply?
The USDA cup and teaspoon entries do not specify cut size or packing. The database also lists a clove portion, but cloves vary in size. Prepared garlic paste, dehydrated garlic, and roasted garlic have different forms.
