Terms of Use

OuncesInACup provides general kitchen measurement tools and reference information. Use each result with its stated units and assumptions.

Using a conversion

You are responsible for checking that the selected unit standard, ingredient, and source portion fit your recipe. Follow a recipe’s explicit weights and measurement instructions when they are available.

Defined unit conversions and ingredient estimates have different limits. A mathematically correct result cannot establish the capacity of an unmarked cup, the weight of an unmeasured food portion, or whether a substitution will work in a recipe.

Scope and accuracy

The tools are designed for ordinary kitchen reference. They do not provide a guarantee of a recipe outcome, a product’s composition, or a particular measuring device’s accuracy. Ingredient results remain estimates even when the calculation uses a precise unit factor.

References and calculation methods are available on Sources and Methodology. Content and data may be revised as errors are found or references change.

Personal recipe notes

You may use the results in your own cooking and recipe notes. Keep the units and relevant source assumptions when copying a result. Links to third-party references do not transfer rights in those sources or imply their endorsement of this site.

Availability and feedback

The site may be updated or temporarily unavailable. The contact and corrections page explains the current local note template and links to the private correction queue.
