Adjust a recipe amount when you want more or fewer servings. Enter the original and new serving counts, then enter an ingredient amount in the unit the recipe gives.
Scale a whole recipe by servings
Paste one ingredient per line, with the amount first and a space before the unit or ingredient. Enter the original and target servings. The calculator keeps the original units and wording.
For example, changing 8 servings to 4 turns 1½ cups of flour into ¾ cup. The tool copies lines such as “salt to taste” and “2–3 cloves of garlic” as written so you can adjust them by hand.
Try a smaller batch
For a recipe written for 8 servings, change the target to 4. An original ¾ cup becomes ⅜ cup. Repeat for each ingredient and keep the same unit as the original recipe.
Adjust the cooking separately
Seasoning, pan size and cooking time often need separate judgment. Use the scaled quantity as a starting point. If the scaled quantity is hard to measure, use the recipe unit converter or the kitchen fractions guide.
